The Museum Collection

The museum’s collection now consists of 432 artefacts and everyday secular and religious objects.

One of the project’s prime assets and its originality is to be able to draw on this major, regularly enriched contemporary archaeology collection.

The archaeological collection reveals Saint-Pierre’s many facets and provides keys to an understanding of the phenomena that destroyed the town. The emotive and aesthetic power of these “products of the catastrophe” were clear to contemporaries and are just as poignant today.
